Cassidy Turner is an awesome photographer and photo editor based in NYC. We are super into her dreamy work and you have probably seen her regrammed quite a few times on the Tactile Instagram. Follow Cassidy for a little magic in your feed.
Why did you become a photographer?
I started taking photos when I was about 13 years old - I enrolled in a film photo class in Junior High and became completely obsessed with it. After learning as much as I could about photography throughout high school, I went on to study it full time at Bard College. Only then was I able to dedicate my time to it and to take it seriously when considering my future.
What was your most exciting day in your business? What happened? Why was it the best?
It's been exciting to see how photographers have had to adapt to the way that images are shared online - I started sharing my photography on the internet when I was a teenager via websites like Flickr and DeviantArt, and obviously a lot has changed since! It's interesting to experiment with different media platforms, while watching how other photographers in the industry use them to share their work with the world.
What is your biggest struggle in the hustle? (Be honest!)
It can be really easy for me to compare my work and career with other photographers my age (especially as I follow so many amazing photographers on Instagram). I have to remind myself to focus on my own path and trust that the choices I'm making are the right ones.
What is the item on your to do list that you wish you never had to do?
This is silly, but I wish that I never had to fill up my Metrocard! Can't wait for teleportation to become a thing!
What is your favorite Instagram feed right now?
I love seeing the photo collages by @thomaslelu pop up on my feed - they're so cleverly done!
Let's end on a non-work note! Favorite place you have ever been?
